At the end of September, I was able to visit the new Textile Exhibit at the Denver Art Museum: Weaving a Foundation: Cornerstones of the Textile Arts Collection. This exhibit showcases fabulous early weaving and embroidery. For me, the highlights of the show were early Navajo and Hopi clothing and chief’s blankets. There were also wonderful ethnic embroideries from around the world as well as American made coverlets. This exhibit is up through January 5, 2025. They also have a spot where you can watch the textile conservators work as well as a fun hands on exhibit for visitors to try their hand at the textile arts.
