WGRI ROLE OF NEWSLETTER EDITOR

< Go back to Role of officers

Approved WGRI Executive Board on September 7, 2019

The Weavers Guild of Rhode Island Newsletter Editor compiles and edits a newsletter called the Reed. In consultation with the President, the Newsletter Editor determines publication dates, normally two or three times per year. The Newsletter Editor sends the newsletter to the President who distributes it via e-mail to the membership. The purpose of the newsletter is to compile the activities of the guild for news distribution as well as to keep a historical record. Traditionally, members have enjoyed receiving the guild news via the newsletter.

The contents of the newsletter are as follows:

First Page: Announcement of the next meeting, it’s time and location. The President’s Message.
The President sends a message to the editor approximately one-month prior to publication. The front page includes our logo, the sheep and shuttle.

Subsequent Pages: The editor has the discretion to order the information in the subsequent pages. The topics covered are:

Officers and committees: The newsletter may, at her discretion, contain a list of the officers and committee heads.

Web site promotion: Most current news, schedules, programs and changes regarding WGRI will be posted on the Web site. Newsletter readers should be encouraged to consult the Web site for this purpose.

Programs: announcement of upcoming program(s); recap of past months programs. Photos of the most recent meeting are a plus.

NEWS: time schedules, volunteers, news regarding the New England Weavers Seminar.

Weavers Challenge: The challenge of the year, time schedules and who to contact.

Other activities to cover: Awards, Community Outreach, Special Events.
