We had a wonderful and inspirational time visiting Elizabeth Springett’s studio WovenSeas in Warren, RI.  She related her weaving journey from a degree in textiles at UMass Dartmouth (formerly SMU) to flying all over the world for textile design firms.  She has sample books of many of the textiles that she helped to create and market.

Her studio is stuffed with all kinds of looms – and yarns and weaving tools and inspirational examples of weaving!  What a visual treat to visit.  She teaches beginning weaving to small groups, individual weaving instruction and rents looms (with her expert assistance).  She also is a rep for Gist Yarns and she has a lovely selection so you can see and feel the yarn before you buy.

Elizabeth also teaches weaving at the Rhode Island Weaving Center in Wakefield.

Most of the group enjoyed a lovely waterfront lunch at Traffords restaurant in Warren after the tour.
